This week, I have spent all of my time working, going to school, and doing homework. Now, if you know me you know that I LOVE being busy. It keeps me occupied and keeps my mind focused on the positives of life. Although I love being busy, sometimes it can feel a bit overwhelming. If you're like me and you love being busy, but not to the point where you can not find time for yourself, you’re probably wondering how you can stay right in between being busy and being bored. Well, because I am in the same predicament…I’m going to fix that problem for you. First off, you want to make sure you are still keeping yourself busy (if that’s what makes you happy of course!). Then, we’ll start off by doing something super simple but very effective. I recommend writing out your schedule, or keeping a calendar (I like to do this every single Sunday, before my week starts). Once you’ve done that take a look at the time slots during your day that are available. Now, I know sometimes it can look like there is NO free time in your schedule, so you have to figure out what event is most important in your day, and which is least important…or which event can hold off until tomorrow. After you’ve changed up your schedule so that you have a little bit of ME TIME….write down a list of things that you LOVE to do for yourself. For me, some of these things would be meditating, painting, watching TV, working on my skincare routine, or just sitting in peace. These activities don’t usually take an extensive amount of time! So with that being said, it is easier fitting things into your schedule than you think! I would say that in order to feel like you have the proper amount of me time, you should spend at least an hour each day on yourself. It doesn’t matter what time of day you fit in this time! It could be right when you wake up, during the middle of the day, or at night! Now, the title of this post is “Busy or Bored”… so you’re probably thinking where’s the boring part??? When you’re making your schedule and fitting in time, you want to make sure you aren’t putting in too much time. Sometimes, while I’m doing this, I overestimate the time I need to do these activities and eventually end up being bored out of my mind! I know that there are some periods in my life where I feel like I have nothing to do at all! Feeling so bored that I just wait for the days to pass… and let me tell you, that’s a TOTALLY normal feeling. For a lot of people my age, these periods often happen during the summertime. Even if you are working throughout the summer, there can still be times throughout the day or week where you simply don’t know what to do with yourself. With that being said, it can sometimes be hard trying to fill in your schedule, and you probably think that there is no way you could fill up your day with different activities. Well, I am here to give you some examples of things you can do and I am in no way saying that I do all of these things because I definitely do not! So, if you are feeling bored, think of something that you haven’t done in a while because you just haven’t given yourself the time to. For me, this would be playing guitar. I always remember how much I loved playing guitar, but I go through times where I stop playing and then I remember just how happy it makes me. Another thing you could do is fill up your time with crafts or DIYs. I know not everyone is interested in these types of things, but if you find something that interests you, look it up on Pinterest and you will 100% find a DIY craft to do. Some people might want to fill this time with exercise. You could go to the gym, on a hike, or any type of exercise that interests you. You could even incorporate this with something else you enjoy to do like shopping! Something I love to do is walk around the mall for hours and shop around! Even if it’s just window shopping. These are only some of MILLIONS activities you could do to occupy yourself with. To find some more activities to do, take a look on the resources tab on my website and click “The ABCs of Self Care”. Here, I have listed a bunch of activities you can do by yourself with little or no money. If you have any other activities you like to do during your free time, feel free to post in the comments!
