Welcome to 2022!! This year is the year of ME!
I’ve decided that there are a few things I would like to see change or develop through the year. My main New Years resolution is to incorporate spirituality in my life. Now, that doesn’t necessarily mean following a religion (yes i would also like to incorporate more of my religious beliefs in my life) but it also means finding peace in life by meditating, yoga, etc. I think that finding my spirituality is a great way for me to learn more about myself. This may not be for everyone...but I know that for myself, meditating and other spiritual activities really helps me focus in one one moment and also allows me to have some peace and quiet during my day. Another resolution I have is to work on enjoying the little things in life. Sometimes, especially on difficult days, finding joy in the little things can keep you going! I plan on doing this by spending more time with the people I love and by trying to always be in the moment. Another way I can do this is by seeking gratitude each and every day. Yes I am grateful when I have big accomplishments or meet my goals, but it is also important to find gratitude in the small, everyday things like being strong enough to get out of bed each morning. This year, I also plan on finding more self love and self worth! Everybody is worthy of self love if you think about it. I want to show myself love, honesty, happiness, and gratitude and all I need to achieve this is ME! With this resolution in mind, I would also like to become more independent and less dependent on what I THINK I need. I hope this gives you some new years resolution ideas if you don’t already have any! If you do…I’d love to hear what your goals are for the year!!

This week, I have spent all of my time working, going to school, and doing homework. Now, if you know me you know that I LOVE being busy. It keeps me occupied and keeps my mind focused on the positives of life. Although I love being busy, sometimes it can feel a bit overwhelming. If you're like me and you love being busy, but not to the point where you can not find time for yourself, you’re probably wondering how you can stay right in between being busy and being bored. Well, because I am in the same predicament…I’m going to fix that problem for you. First off, you want to make sure you are still keeping yourself busy (if that’s what makes you happy of course!). Then, we’ll start off by doing something super simple but very effective. I recommend writing out your schedule, or keeping a calendar (I like to do this every single Sunday, before my week starts). Once you’ve done that take a look at the time slots during your day that are available. Now, I know sometimes it can look like there is NO free time in your schedule, so you have to figure out what event is most important in your day, and which is least important…or which event can hold off until tomorrow. After you’ve changed up your schedule so that you have a little bit of ME TIME….write down a list of things that you LOVE to do for yourself. For me, some of these things would be meditating, painting, watching TV, working on my skincare routine, or just sitting in peace. These activities don’t usually take an extensive amount of time! So with that being said, it is easier fitting things into your schedule than you think! I would say that in order to feel like you have the proper amount of me time, you should spend at least an hour each day on yourself. It doesn’t matter what time of day you fit in this time! It could be right when you wake up, during the middle of the day, or at night! Now, the title of this post is “Busy or Bored”… so you’re probably thinking where’s the boring part??? When you’re making your schedule and fitting in time, you want to make sure you aren’t putting in too much time. Sometimes, while I’m doing this, I overestimate the time I need to do these activities and eventually end up being bored out of my mind! I know that there are some periods in my life where I feel like I have nothing to do at all! Feeling so bored that I just wait for the days to pass… and let me tell you, that’s a TOTALLY normal feeling. For a lot of people my age, these periods often happen during the summertime. Even if you are working throughout the summer, there can still be times throughout the day or week where you simply don’t know what to do with yourself. With that being said, it can sometimes be hard trying to fill in your schedule, and you probably think that there is no way you could fill up your day with different activities. Well, I am here to give you some examples of things you can do and I am in no way saying that I do all of these things because I definitely do not! So, if you are feeling bored, think of something that you haven’t done in a while because you just haven’t given yourself the time to. For me, this would be playing guitar. I always remember how much I loved playing guitar, but I go through times where I stop playing and then I remember just how happy it makes me. Another thing you could do is fill up your time with crafts or DIYs. I know not everyone is interested in these types of things, but if you find something that interests you, look it up on Pinterest and you will 100% find a DIY craft to do. Some people might want to fill this time with exercise. You could go to the gym, on a hike, or any type of exercise that interests you. You could even incorporate this with something else you enjoy to do like shopping! Something I love to do is walk around the mall for hours and shop around! Even if it’s just window shopping. These are only some of MILLIONS activities you could do to occupy yourself with. To find some more activities to do, take a look on the resources tab on my website and click “The ABCs of Self Care”. Here, I have listed a bunch of activities you can do by yourself with little or no money. If you have any other activities you like to do during your free time, feel free to post in the comments! I have reached a time in my life where I feel like I am starting over (in a good way!). This fall, I am pushing myself to step out of my comfort zone every once in a while. I’ve started off my new beginning by moving into an apartment with friends. After almost two years of living at home due to the pandemic, I expected myself to be a lot more anxious about this change than I am now. Although it’s only been two days of this change, I feel a difference in myself mentally. Living at home was so wonderful for me. I got to spend more time with my family and I was comfortable with my life. Now, being comfortable is GREAT…but it’s even better to feel a little discomfort in life. Having that slight worry means that you are challenging and pushing yourself to step out of your comfort zone. Moving into this apartment with friends has shifted my perspective on some things. As someone with anxiety, it can be difficult to go through change, and usually for me, it is very difficult. However, during the process of moving into my apartment, I haven’t felt that as much as I usually do. I have been thinking a lot about the near future and what my semester will look like in college and so far, it all looks bright. I have new friends in my life that I am excited to get to know, I have a great education to look forward to, I am excited to make some healthy choices for myself, and most importantly, I am so excited to see the progress I make in myself. A few months ago, I wrote a blog post on finding a cozy area for yourself that is like a safe space. Of course, I needed to do the same with my new living area. Making this space MINE has helped make me feel comfortable with this new change because I know that I have all the things I love around me. Because of COVID, I feel like my college experience has been swept right underneath me. I never really felt to badly about that because I was happy being home, but now that I am away from home, I have realized that I’ve missed out on some of the best years of life. With all of this change, I can honestly say that I am proud of myself for persevering. I look forward to the future and to see what life has in store for me. As an independent and confident women, I know that I will grow and become a better version of myself. What is Law of Attraction? Law of Attraction is the idea or philosophy that your positive and negative thoughts attract positive or negative events. Now, not everyone believes the law of attraction, but i'm here to tell you how you can use the law of attraction to manifest what you want! Most of us have heard someone say "well with that attitude it won't happen!"... that is an example of using negative thoughts which will then attract a negative emotion or event. Using and repeating positive thoughts or affirmations like, "I can do this!" helps you believe in yourself to manifest what you want. Here is an example of something you might want to manifest: With these steps...you can manifest anything you want in life!
Tips on how to make the law of attraction work:
All that we are is the result of what we have thought. A few months ago, I created my blog, Seek for Self Love, to become the best version of myself and to track my progress of my mental health, well-being, self love, and my confidence. Recently I have realized that one thing has been missing from my progress, and that is independence. I firmly believe that I am an independent person, but I can say that there are some flaws there and I personally would like to feel a little more independent than I currently am. So, I have done my research (as per usual) and I have figured out what I can do to not only improve myself, but to also be a more independent woman. Independence is an important quality to me because people come and go in life. Although I have my set family and friends and I love meeting new people everyday...the only person that I know for a fact will always be there for me is ME! Sometimes I feel like I rely on other people (family and friends) for my happiness (and I know everyone does this at some point in their lives!) but I am truly the only person who can make myself happy. I want to become more independent in order to better myself. I came up with a list of my hobbies, interests, and activities that I love to do. Now, with this list, I will be taking one or more activities per day and completing them by myself. I know it doesn't seem like much of a big deal, but all of these little activities feel important to me and I think could help me become more independent. This self love journey has helped me realize so much about myself so far. I have learned what I love about myself, what I'd like to change or adjust...and it's all coming together to make me a stronger and a more confident person. Using these "one a day activities" will help me progress by forcing myself to focus on my well-being. If anyone decides to make their own "one a day activities" list please post in the comments some of the activities you'd add! I'd love to get some more ideas to add to my list:) As a young teenager, I started off loving my cheap little drugstore makeup! For years, I stepped up my makeup skills, watched youtube videos, and learned how to perfect my face. What I didn't realize is that my makeup wasn't perfecting my face, but it was what I was putting on my face afterwards that would perfect my skin. At the time, all I did was wash my face with bar soap in the shower, maybe slap on some moisturizer, and out the door I went. The past two or three years, I've developed a LOVE for skincare. The focus of this blog is to practice self love, and I believe that self love can truly be anything that you do to be the better version of yourself. To me, that is spending time to make my skin beautiful. Every night, I typically spend 20-25 minutes doing my skincare routine (maybe longer if I decide to use a face mask!). Those 20 minutes are the best 20 minutes of my day every day! At the end of the day, I'll put my phone away, watch my favorite show, and do my skincare routine. It's my perfect way to end the day because it's usually the only time of the day that I get to relax. My love for skincare reminds me that it is important to spend time with yourself, doing the things you love. Another reason I absolutely love skincare is because it makes me feel much more confident. Having glowing skin and knowing that it looks beautiful simply because of how I take care of it makes me feel confident! It makes me realize that I did this! I was able to make myself more beautiful and more confident! Skincare is something I look forward to every single day. So, because of that, I work hard every day to educate myself on products I should and shouldn't be using. I try my hardest to stay up to date with the newest and hottest products! For many people, skincare is just a hassle...and that is okay! However, I do think that it is important for everyone to have their me time once a day. It can be 5 minutes, 10 minutes, an hour...whatever you need to feel like your love for yourself is growing. Some people would want to spend this time reading, watching a movie, meditating, or maybe working out. Whatever you choose to be your "me time" will work for you! xoxo, Kate P.S. Reach out if you have any skincare questions or need some ideas of products to use!! The past few months, I have kept myself busy with a couple of different jobs. Although I LOVE my jobs, I had to cut down my self love time, meaning that I didn't get as many opportunities to post on here. But, as of right now, I AM BACK! This summer is going to be the summer of me. I plan on working on myself and confidence. I've lost a little bit of my confidence and that is OKAY because like I said at the beginning of this journey, this is all a roller coaster. As the summer is finally here, I've been able to step out of my comfort zone a tad bit. I've been going out the beach (YES IN PUBLIC) with bikinis on! Maybe that doesn't seem like the biggest achievement for you, but for me, thats a big step. When you're on your self love journey, you always need to start somewhere and that somewhere can be anywhere you want. My goal for this summer is to be comfortable and happy on my own. Right now, of course I am happy on my own, but I am also trying to get myself out there to possibly find someone to spend a lot of my time with. I would like to switch my mindset from "needing" to be with someone else to being able to be on my own. I'm hoping that with this journey, and with the positive support I have in my life, I will be able to do so.
As I am writing this post, I'm asking myself how I can go about doing this. I think the right way is to research and find out how others have kept their confidence and self love journey up at the top of that roller coaster. I also think it is important to keep pushing myself out of my comfort zone and see what happens. The one thing I like about this is that even if you get some negative feedback, you can use what you've learned so far from your journey to push through and ignore that feedback. What matters is YOU and the choices you make in life. Ask yourself...do you want to persevere, or are you okay with not being the best version of yourself? Wrapping up my sophomore year of college has made me realize something. Over the past year, most of us have been working from home or taking classes from home. Taking my classes at home has been difficult in someways. I can honestly say, that I haven't been nearly as motivated with my school work as I used to be. At the beginning of the school year, I really struggled to stay organized and focused, so I decided I needed a designated area in my house where I would feel calm and relaxed.
If I wasn't able to be in the classroom, I figured...why not make my school area cozy?! This is by far my favorite area in my little room. I made it so that I could look around and see things that make me happy. I have my affirmations, my makeup, candles, my skincare…everything that I love to do is right in this little corner. As I take classes at my desk, I find myself getting distracted. To minimize the distraction and keep up my concentration, I got a yoga ball to sit on rather than a chair that would most likely hurt my back from sitting on it all day. I spend a lot of time sitting in this little area doing the things I love! And I am so happy that with this area, I have been able to keep up with my school work, focus, and get things done!! To make your own little area like mine, you need to make it somewhere you want to be. To do that, you can make it comfortable, you can set it up with good lighting, and most importantly, surround yourself with the things you love to do! Alright everyone...it's almost that time of year again...SUMMER!! I have put together a list of tops, bottoms, bathing suits, and shoes that I highly recommend if you are in search of some new summer clothes. All products are linked with the website, so if you click on the image, it should bring you right to the product!! xoxo, Kate TOPSBOTTOMSSWIMWEARDRESSESSHOESWhat is a happy place? Cambridge dictionary defines a happy place as “a memory, situation, or activity that makes you feel happy: If you feel stressed, take a few minutes and go to a happy place.” So if you’re asking yourself if a happy place can be a memory or simply a person you love to be with...yes! It totally can.
As cliche it is for a Massachusetts girl to say this...I’m going to say it anyways. My happy place is the cape. Over the years (especially the past three years) I have made so many wonderful memories on the cape with family and friends. I think the reason Cape Cod is my happy place is because I’m always there during the best time of the year...summer. As someone who loves spending time with her family, I love all of the crazy memories we make!! I have so many memories of my family out on the boat, in the ocean, on walks, on shopping trip, and of course family dinners. What means the most to me is that when I’m with my family, I can 100% relax and enjoy myself. In a way, the Cape is where we all go to run away from the real world!! I’d love to hear what your happy place is! If you’re interested in sharing, leave a comment below! |
